Global Web and Community Strategy

Along with an agency partner, Crimson developed the global site and community strategy for a leading cable soap opera. The goal was to leverage the large and thriving fan base and extend their fan's participation across a diverse set of social media offerings (community, video portal, and wiki). It was also important to maintain their existing and well-recognized brand identity through the creation of a cohesive and consistent user experience across sites.

Partner Portal and Catalog for Use with Mobile Devices

Our client wanted to develop a new partner portal that would provide a comprehensive catalogue of key solutions partners. The portal would allow customers to identify service providers, and would allow our client's resellers to identify other complementary solution-providers to create whole product solutions. It would also allow our client's partner managers to more effectively engage with their channels.

CHALLENGES

  • Our client wanted to promote their growing partner portfolio to customers using a self-profiling model
  • Partners and sales teams needed to more effectively engage with each other
  • There was no comprehensive information portal for partners to identify one another or exchange information on key areas of focus

SOLUTIONS

  • Crimson built a cost-effective portal solution that includes a mobile front-end (for devices such as the iPhone and Blackberry), allowing partners and managers access to the partner catalogue while away from their laptops
  • The portal also features a back-end control panel for managing partners, as well as mechanisms for registration notification, approval workflow, and a mobile version of the partner catalog

RESULTS

  • Crimson completed the portal design and launch within six weeks by leveraging our portal rapid development technology
  • The client saw increased engagement with their customer base, resulting in higher levels of customer satisfaction

Community and Social Media Strategy

Along with an Agency and PR partner, Crimson developed the community strategy and social marketing campaigns for an artificial intelligence product in an emerging product category for “Life Forms” .The goal was to introduce the product as a “companion” not a toy, create a buzz among new audiences and encourage continued interest and engagement with early adopters via a new online community and other forms of viral marketing.

  • Create avenues to keep the product's early adopter/fan base interested and engaged in dialog with our client
  • Create a ground swell of buzz around the product launch

SOLUTIONS

  • Created viral campaigns offering early adopters in the community the opportunity to purchase two products each from the first product shipment
  • Implemented content sharing tactics around the “Inventor’s Journal” webisodes which were virally distributed on social networks and widely discussed on robotics and product fan forums
  • Developed the community strategy and moderation guidelines for the client's new online community, including moderation services
  • Provided on-going consulting and strategic recommendations for community and web site expansion/evolution

RESULTS

  • The new product's pre-orders sold out in three days after the launch of the “First Hatch” program
  • Client has an active, vibrant community full of advocates
  • Client was written up in OneUpWeb’s article: “Secrets of Social Marketing Success: How Hot Holiday Products are Being Marketed Online” and profiled as an example of social marketing excellence

Online Community Design and Strategy

Along with an agency partner, Crimson developed the strategy for a broadband entertainment portal for a leading mobile broadband and DSL provider's 5 million DSL customers. The goal was to provide a showcase for our client's "best in broadband" content and enable immediate purchase of key content. In addition, our client wanted to build an active community to establish ongoing, two-way communication with their users and customers.

  • The site must be revenue-generating
