Crimson Consulting Group is growing and is interested in hiring senior individuals in a Partner / VP of Consulting Management role. This person will have full P&L responsibility for generating business and managing a practice. Please see a more detailed description of the role below.

MUST HAVE:

  • Excellent senior-level marketing contacts at large Silicon Valley technology vendors
  • 10+ years total work experience
  • 4+ years of consulting management experience for a consulting firm
  • Experience personally identifying and closing opportunities that result in profitable consulting projects, and long-term client relationships
  • Significant experience consulting to technology companies on strategic marketing issues

STRONGLY PREFER:

  • A deep and thorough understanding of all aspects of technology marketing
  • 5+ years experience in a senior marketing role at a technology vendor, ideally at the director or VP level
  • MBA from a top school
  • Technical degree

Job Status: Full Time
Location: Crimson's office in Los Altos, CA (with significant off-site flexibility)

The Partner/VP of Consulting Management's responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

1) Find Opportunities: (This is the most highly valued area of responsibility)

  • Work within your personal network to create meetings with prospective clients (at the right level) at large technology firms
  • Prospect for new opportunities, with new and existing clients, including those that may not be obvious on the surface
  • Engage in discussions with prospects about possible ways we can work with them

2) Frame Engagements:

  • Gain a deep understanding of the clients' challenges, often at a deeper level than they understand them
  • Qualify the opportunity (budget, decision-making process, timing, etc.)
  • Document the skills requirement of the prospective consulting team, interview prospective team members, and choose and build your team
  • Create proposal documents that discuss Crimson's approach to addressing the client's challenge

3) Close the Business:

  • Qualify the opportunity in all steps of this process to maximize our chance of success
  • Present proposal documents to the client in a way convincing them of the value of our approach over all other alternatives
  • Ensure that you have sufficient knowledge and information to drive the decision in your favor (managing the decision-making process)
  • Gain formal approval

4) Manage the Engagement:

  • Manage the client sponsors and manage their expectations throughout the engagement
  • Manage the engagement via project management skills or via a project manager (scope, budget, timeline, deliverables, contingencies, etc.)
  • Deliver on Crimson's commitment of creating Extreme Client Satisfaction

5) Information Capture/Infrastructure Management:

  • Follow an engagement completion process
  • Support the building and management of various aspects of Crimson's infrastructure to ensure the firm's overall success
