Rich Julius – Partner

Rich Julius has over 18 years experience in user interface design, information architecture, and globalization, and specializes in designing usability into web interfaces while focusing on the client’s key business goals.

Rich has spent the past eight years developing web strategies for some of the world's leading technology companies, designing dozens of successful portals and extranets for companies that include Applied Materials, Cisco Systems, Harmonic Inc., Seagate, and Verizon.

Rich recently designed the localization and global publishing strategies for Cisco’s technical support web site, resulting in Cisco’s first LISA Award for online global Web support excellence.

Rich served for 8 years as president of Specific Impulse Inc., directing the information architecture and web development practice recently acquired by Crimson. In the 1990's Rich served as Director of User Assistance at Oracle Corporation, Director of Knowledge Systems at Informix Software, Director of Consulting Engineering at Perspecta, and Information Architect at Marketing Solutions Software (MS2).

An Irish/American dual-citizen, Rich sits on the board of EireBusiness International, the Irish eBusiness community web portal he founded, whose EireBiz.com property received European Union grant funding in 2005-06.

A prolific writer and popular conference speaker, Rich has BA and MFA degrees from the University of Michigan, where he later joined the faculty to teach creative and business writing. In 1995 he founded the Technical Communication program at UC Berkeley Extension, where he taught courses in Digital Communication and Information Architecture for over five years. He also served for three years as President of the Berkeley chapter of the Society for Technical Communication.
