Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Staff Accountant/Accounting Manager is responsible for full sets of books including month end and year end close activities, balance sheet reconciliation, AP, AR and cash management, overview of pipeline and fixed asset, project accounting and payroll functions. Special projects and financial analysis will be assigned as needed.
MUST HAVE:
- 7-10+ years of experience in an accounting role with progressive responsibilities
- Strong General Ledger month-end and year end close experience
- Project or professional services accounting experiences strongly preferred
- Great Plains or equivalent accounting system experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Must work well independently with the ability to analyze, investigate and resolve accounting related issues
- Strong communication, customer service and organization skills
- Experience with payroll, employee benefits administration and/or HR-related activities a plus
- Supervisory experience for a small team preferred
- BS or BA in Accounting
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and their applications
- Result oriented with good interpersonal and communication skill
Job Status: Fulltime, although flexible schedules are potentially available
Location: Crimson's office in Los Altos, CA
The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Financial and General Accounting:
- Oversee all transactions of accounting related to general ledger, receivables, payables, fixed assets, payroll, benefits, bonus and profit sharing calculations
- Responsible for month end and year end accounting close operations
- Establishment and maintenance of the accounting control environment
- Generation of GAAP and tax accounting reports for internal and external
- Drive improvements in project accounting revenue and cost recognition
- Coordination with and reporting to partners and external parties
- Oversight of treasury functions
Tax Planning and Compliance
- Drive year end tax planning
- Responsible for federal, state and local income, business and property tax compliance
- Manage self audit process
- Work with outside auditors on tax planning and compliance. Assist with preparation of quarterly tax projections.
- Prepare tax filing schedules and provide information for federal and state tax filing
- Coordinates and/or prepares tax schedules, returns and information for different states
- Initiate and set up business and tax licenses in different state
- Coordinates and/or prepares tax schedules, returns and information for different states
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Drive annual budget and quarterly forecast, compare and analyze results
- Compile quarterly reporting packages for business units
- Provide profitability and sales analysis for the company and for business units
Administration and Risk Management
- Oversee the Administration and Risk Management functions. Ensure entity and capital structure for company supported risk management objectives
- The candidate may supervise a small team of accounting staff
- Management of special projects
