Frequently-Asked Questions
What is StageOneTM?
StageOne is a rapid-development toolkit for creating rich, interactive web sites, portals, extranets, microsites, and eMarketing applications. Sometimes knows as "the web development Swiss Army Knife" it is made up of over 100 pre-built and fully-integrated modules, each highly customizable, that can be used to create virtually any kind of interactive web solution.
StageOne modules are grouped into the following application areas:
- web content management
- online document and asset libraries
- email campaign management
- extranet/intranet management
- project management and task-tracking
StageOne supports virtually any information architecture with powerful content classification tools, search keywords, navigation hierarchies, and virtual foldering.
Who makes StageOne and how long has it been in production?
StageOne was developed by Specific Impulse Inc., a Silicon Valley software company and Crimson technology partner for many years. Specific Impulse's consulting division merged with Crimson in 2007. StageOne has been in production since 2000, with an outstanding 100% customer satisfaction rating.
Who uses it, and for what?
- Enterprises, including Applied Materials, BEA, Cisco, Harmonic, Juniper Networks, McAfee, McKesson, and Seagate
- Forward-thinking startups and mid-size businesses in the US and Ireland
Enterprises use StageOne for microsites, portals, extranets, online libraries, and email campaigns. Mid-size businesses use it for their entire web marketing operations.
How easy is it to set up and configure?
StageOne was designed to allow marketing and business professionals to configure and use the system with little or no training--it's that easy to use. Developers can extend the system with their own modules or easily integrate other systems and components with the StageOne modules. The whole system is hosted, making it virtually "IT Free." It can also be brought in-house with little expense or effort by your IT staff.
Is it based on proprietary technology?
StageOne is based on an open architecture built on the inexpensive and well-supported JRun/ColdFusion application server from Adobe, and is easily customized and extended using standard CFML markup language. It works with virtually any standard relational database, from MS-Access though MS-SQLServer and Oracle. Content is stored in standard file structures and StageOne will even convert all interfaces to plain HTML. None of your files or data are ever held hostage by StageOne!
Are there restrictions on look-and-feel and branding?
StageOne is designed to support any graphic design or information architecture. There are essentially no restrictions as long as the design can be rendered in HTML or Flash.
