Bob Atkins Named Crimson Consulting Group Partner
Los Altos, Calif. - February 5, 2008 - Crimson Consulting Group, a marketing strategy and implementation consulting firm, announced today that marketing professional Bob Atkins has been named a partner in the firm. Bob Atkins is a former Vice President at Mercer Management Consulting and has a 15-year track record consulting to Fortune 500 clients on business strategy, sales, marketing and organizational design, with particular emphasis in the communications, information and entertainment (CIE) industry. He has founded start-ups, led a turnaround and played critical roles in financing major deals and venture rounds. Atkins started his consulting career with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman), a leading global provider of consulting, outsourcing and investment services. At Mercer, he managed the firms $28M North American CIE group and provided expertise across general strategy, sales, channels and marketing effectiveness in the CIE industries. Specific accomplishments included developing and leading the company’s sales force and channel practice, helping a client grow from $100M to over $1B during a ten-year relationship, and growing a strategic account into the largest and most profitable in company history. After leaving Mercer and prior to becoming a partner with Crimson, Atkins was founder and chief executive officer at Gray Associates, Inc., a Concord, MA-based consulting firm specializing in business strategy, sales and marketing. At Gray, he led work with a major Yellow Pages provider to develop their growth strategy and investor presentations that led to the $7.0 billion sale of the company. In addition, Atkins led the successful restructuring of the leader in enterprise voice communications systems’ North American sales organization. Atkins received his BA (magna cum laude) from Harvard College and his MBA (with distinction) from Harvard Business School.
